It is believed that the first living organisms formed in the ocean 3 million years ago. Ocean biomes are made up of saltwater and about 71% of our planet is covered in ocean. There are five ocean biomes in the world: the Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Arctic Ocean, and Southern Ocean. Some of these oceans also hold some of the major seas. The ocean is so vast and big but we have only explored about 5% of it. There are many organisms and species in the ocean that we don't even know about because we are unable to go that deep into the ocean. Once we have technology that is able to go that deep in the water we may find out new things about our own planet and what lies at the bottom of the ocean.
